Nagasaki Lantern Festival

In February, Dad Alward came to Japan! Here are some pictures of the famed Nagasaki Lantern Festival. Other than the constant downpour of rain for pretty much the entire trip, it was truly lovely indeed.

Roses Are Red, Pancakes Are Brown

We celebrated Valentine’s Day by making Japanese pancakes and then taking pictures of them. Despite looking like plastic vomit, they’re actually quite delicious, one of my favorite Japanese foods.

Some Tweaks

One of the problems with having a job that requires me to be in front of a computer much of the day is that I spend way too much time in front of the computer not doing my job. Or, as they said in 1998, I surf the web. A lot.

Occassionaly when surfing, I actually come across something informative/interesting/entertaining enough to want to share with other people. By “other people,” I mean Sarah. Since I’m sure she’s getting sick of me showing her yet another site about Star Wars, and since I promised to update this site more frequently, I thought I’d start sharing some links here. I know, I know, everyone else has been posting links on their blog for three years. I’m still saying “surf the web,” so cut me some slack.

Funny Cars

Sarah and I saw these two cars lined up at a stoplight on the way to a friend’s house recently and were struck by their deep message. I promise the only way I edited the photo was to make the names of the two cars more readable. And these aren’t even the weirdest car names in Japan.
